During the 2008-2009 millenium drought, when water pricing from the river Murray peaked in 2008-2009, the average cost of available water was only 37 cents per kilolitre: one twelfth of the price which will be paid by the average Adelaide household for water used in 2012-2013.
South Australia water’s current pricing policy is deplorable: promoting water consumption in the driest state in Australia and actively discriminating against those households committed to minimising water use.
